Wilson's Court In The Act
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Wed., Oct 24, 2012

My thanks to tboyd for the heads-up that Steven Wilson was at DGM HQ yesterday recording Mellotron parts for his forthcoming follow-up to last year’s Grace For Drowning album.

Writing on his Facebook page Steven observed "“Today I was at Robert [Fripp]‘s place recording the mellotron parts for my new album on his original sixties MK2 mellotron, famously the one used on the debut King Crimson album. Playing a real mellotron is quite an exhausting physical experience, but it sounds amazing….

And this snap from Steven’s Twitter feed

You can check out more about the making of the album by visiting Steven’s brand new website.

Congratulations to Syd Blair of Belfast. He was able to tell me that Tim Bowness's regular musical partner in No-Man is Steven Wilson. For that display of in-depth musical knowledge he wins himself a copy of the latest Henry Fool album, Men Singing. Stay tuned for another splendid giveaway later this week.

The very best of birthday wishes to the Old Goat himself pictured here as, in his own words, mutton dressed as lamb...

As you can see the picture is taken by Robert's wife Toyah and today is also their 27th wedding anniversary. Congratulations to both of them.

Henry Fool Giveaway
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Wed., May 15, 2013
We have a copy of the new album by Henry Fool to give away to one lucky winner.

The album, Men Singing, was released last month and features (amongst others) Henry Fool founder Tim Bowness and special guest Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music.

All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning this album is tell me the name of Tim's regular musical partner in, and co-founder of, No Man.

Once you've got the answer pop it, and your postal address, in an email to competitions@dgmlive.com headed HENRY FOOL. The lucky winner will be announced on Monday 20th May.

You can listen to a sampler of the album here, and listen to an interview with Tim Bowness as well as reading my take on Men Singing.

The Trouble With Experience
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Wed., May 15, 2013
My thanks to djcub00 for the following item. djcub00 writes "Here is a letter Noel Redding wrote to the editor of Guitar Player Magazine detailing his frustrations with the industry back in 1989. It seems like Fripp and company can relate to the sad practices of the music industry, even for the bandmate of the most influential guitarist in popular music.
