A Winner Writes...
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Sun., Apr 15, 2012

Rick Mascarini was the winner of our recent Pat Mastelotto Recidivate competition and here he is with his prize...

Rick writes "I arrived home yesterday (Friday 13th of April) from another long business excursion to find my "prize" having arrived while I was on the road. The picture was taken w/ my now trusty iPad 2 along with the P@ music playing from the same said device.  Wonderful that I can travel and have these gems playing on headphones while sitting in airplanes. Thanks again for the contests and I'm very proud to be a lucky winner!"

KC Rehearsals - MORE COWBELL!
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Fri., Jun 6, 2014
More shots of King Crimson rehearsals have emerged overnight. First up comes from Gavin Harrison's Facebook page and gives you an idea of the set up as it stands at the moment - there's almost as many drums in that room as at a Terry Bozzio solo gig!

Elsewhere last night at Jakko's studio via Robert's Facebook page there was this photocall...

Also check out Tony's update rehearsal blog page for more pix of the boys at work.

King Crimson, dormant mythical entity and prog band itís cool to like, reuniting for US tour
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Fri., Jun 6, 2014
Of the many web pages carrying news of KC's return to the frontline, that headline from this piece, is probably our favourite so far. Not quite on a par with the LA Reader's Prog-rock pond scum set to bum you out headline marking the emergence of the Double Trio it's true but not bad.

Three Drummers And More

As Pat Mastelotto says on his Facebook page, what three drummers look like...

King Crimson 2014 Tour Dates
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Jun 3, 2014

When music appears which only King Crimson can play then, sooner or later, King Crimson appears to play the music.
Robert Fripp.

King Crimson returns to active service in the front line on September 9, 2014 with 17 US performances, the first since 2008.

Born on January 13, 1969 in the basement of the Fulham Palace Cafe, London, this is the eighth incarnation of King Crimson, with:

Gavin Harrison (drums), Bill Rieflin (drums), Pat Mastelotto (drums), Tony Levin (bass and vocals), Mel Collins (Sax, flute), Jakko Jakszyk (guitar, vocals), and Robert Fripp (guitar).

In his DGM Diary for September 6, 2013, when King Crimsonís return to live performance was announced to an outbreak of media frenzy, fan adoration and spontaneous outpourings of affection, Fripp wrote:

At 18.55 King Crimson VIII moved to its next stage of actualization
This is a very different reformation to what has gone before: seven players, four English and three American, with three drummers.
The Point Of Crim-Seeing was of a conventional Back Line reconfigured as the Front Line.
The Seven-Headed Beast of Crim is in Go! mode.

King Crimson In "Lotsa Fun" Shock Horror
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Mon., Jun 2, 2014
On the day that the new line-up of King Crimson held its first day of full band rehearsals, this just in from Robert Fripp: "First day of King Crimson rehearsals, with Front Line of three drummers and Back Line of three players (Mel Collins arriving back today from touring in Italy, joining us tomorrow) reporting good days. Personally, i had lotsa fun.
Two Crim Principles articulated:
1.Enjoying our playing together is encouraged.
2.If you don't wish to play a part, give it to someone else - there's enough of them!
Tour itinerary will be announced tomorrow on DGM.

ProjeKct Two were knocking the socks off punters in Cleveland Ohio. The gig is available for download here. JPrisco who purchased this show said "this is ProjeKct music to peel paint, to frighten cows, to crumble empires. Bring fresh underwear" and another audient with the  name of thestaz, had this to say: "I was in attendance at this show and it was one to remember.  I was very close to the stage; the now defunct Odeon was SRO.  Thinking it would be clever, I yelled at the band, "Are we on Zarg yet?" after the song which I later came to know as Light ConstruKction.  Mr. Fripp, I think, found it more annoying than clever.  He pointed a finger at me and the listener can hear him say on this recording, "Who is this guy!?"  LOL.  Mr. Gunn merely shrugged at me.  Mr. Belew replied, "Thatís in a different universe!""
