A Winner Writes...
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Sun., Apr 15, 2012

Rick Mascarini was the winner of our recent Pat Mastelotto Recidivate competition and here he is with his prize...

Rick writes "I arrived home yesterday (Friday 13th of April) from another long business excursion to find my "prize" having arrived while I was on the road. The picture was taken w/ my now trusty iPad 2 along with the P@ music playing from the same said device.  Wonderful that I can travel and have these gems playing on headphones while sitting in airplanes. Thanks again for the contests and I'm very proud to be a lucky winner!"

KC In The UK
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Jul 16, 2015
King Crimson rehearsals are underway this week ahead of the first full UK tour since 1982, which begins next month.

Thirty-three years ago, the KC tour schedule took in Oxford, Guildford, Cromer, Dunstable and Poole, these in effect being play-in gigs for the Beat material prior to the recording of the album in London's Odyssey Studios.

Before that, you would have had to have gone back to the winter of 1972 to find Crimson performing in cities such as Cardiff, Brighton, and Birmingham.

The 2015 tour is a huge opportunity to hear the latest incarnation of the band unveil brand new material written since last year's US tour.  In addition, the group will be playing older repertoire, some of it not heard on a UK stage since it was first played in 1969. Indeed, there's some material, such as Starless, which has never performed in the UK at all.

Brighton has now sold out and, at the time of writing, the London dates are not far behind. With second nights added in Salford, Birmingham and Edinburgh, the tour promises to be a real King Crimson celebration.

Given the rarity of something like a full UK tour, if you're thinking about going to see King Crimson but haven't made your mind up yet, best not wait too another 33 years!

Adrian's Idiom
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Jul 14, 2015
Adrian Belew has unveiled his latest composition on his Youtube page. Writing about the tune Adrian notes "itís a brand new song called "idiom" from the upcoming FLUX pack.*

in case youíre unsure, an idiom is a phrase or expression used figuratively rather than literally. for example if you use the expression "he bought the farm" you are not referring to someone purchasing real estate, youíre talking about someone dying.

idioms fascinate me because they are usually bizarre. there are thousands of idioms in the english language. this song is made entirely of idioms.

it was raining cats and dogs
between a rock and a hard place
so I drove him up the wall
and down to the wire
at the drop of a hat,
an arm and a leg
he lost his head
for a piece of cake

so he went back to the drawing board
for a taste of his own medicine
with a chip on his shoulder
tighter than dickís hat band
he was off the hook
on the fence
over the top
and out on a limb

Iím an idiom
somebodyís pulling my leg
Iím an idiom
you must be pulling my leg

the song was recorded by daniel rowland and miles fuqua at studiobelew in mt. juliet, tennessee
mixed and mastered by daniel rowland
written and performed by yours truly
written on july 1, 2015

*a full explanation of the new FLUX pack is coming soon.
